Verte

Green Holistic Design and Lifestyle Services

Overview

I founded Verte, which means "green" in French, in 2005, as an eco-friendly holistic design and lifestyle studio. Birth doula and green family living services were added in 2007, once I became a DONA trained and certified birth doula. Verte aligned some of its services and programming with the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), the precursor to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

MDGs
3 - Promote Gender Equality & Empower Women

4 - Reduce Child Mortality

5 - Improve Maternal Health

7 - Ensure Environmental Sustainability

I stopped actively working underneath Verte in 2012.

Studio Highlight

In June 2006, Verte was the executive producer of P.o.m.e.d. (Protect our Mother Earth's Daughters), a curated eco-friendly social impact event, plus online fundraiser, that featured the latest in green beauty, fashion and lifestyle products, plus organic food and beverages, benefitting organizations who work(ed) to end gender-, child-, and earth- based violence. Beneficiaries included V-Day - a global activist movement to end violence against women and girls started by author, playwright and activist V, formerly known as Eve Ensler; Kids with Cameras - inspired the documentary, Born Into Brothels, by New York-based photographer Zana Briski; with attention raised for the STOP GLOBAL WARMING campaign, an initiative led by Laurie David, the Academy Award-winning producer of Former President Al Gore’s documentary, An Inconvenient Truth (2006).

Pomed had brief mention in the June 2006 issue of Elle magazine.
